See what I did there? Now that I’ve mentioned it’s Christmas Eve, you’ve totally forgotten that I didn’t post this on the weekend… right? :)
So Vancouver is still amazingly snowed under (it rarely snows here — if we get a day or two of snow a year, that’s usually all we can handle), and I’m heading out for Christmas dinner in an hour and change (my family celebrates on Christmas Eve, being of partially European heritage.) I figured I’d get this WAR rollup post up and let you know what’s making the rounds on the forums and blogs this week, as well as wish you all a Merry Christmas (and happy holidays to those of you who don’t celebrate it) before I head out into the blizzard…
Knights feel the nerf bat
One of the two newest classes in WAR, the Knight of the Blazing Sun, felt the heat of the Mythic nerf bat in recent days, with the oft discussed ability On Your Guard! receiving a fairly harsh decrease in power. Andy over at Lucky Number 2D6 has an excellent dissection of the nerf (and whether or not its severity was mandated) that you should definitely read if you’re interested in a good analysis of the change.
Swordmaster helm rage on the forums
This had me in stitches last night and I think you’ll enjoy it too. Much-maligned Swordmaster helms appear to have hit a new low and the reaction from players on the Swordmaster forums over at Warhammer Alliance is both hilarious and mildly depressing. To give you a taste of what you’re in for:
I feel I should say that our terrible terrible looking helms are one of the rare elements that Mythic stayed true to the warhammer world design/facepalm
-and-
Well, from what I can see the ‘Art Team’ do the SM designs down the local after 15 pints of extra strong lager.
-and-
… Somehow “NO MOAR PENNIS HELMUT” seems like a fantastic picket sign >.>
I have to admit I can kind of see where they’re coming from… yikes.
New ChaosCast podcast live this week
The trio of popular WAR bloggers Syp (from Waaagh!), Snafzg (from The Greenskin), and Keen (of the always delightful Keen & Graev’s Gaming Blog) have teamed up for another ChaosCast podcast, right in time for the holidays. Keen has an overview of what they’re discussing this time around on his blog. Be sure to check it out!
Keg End under way & boosted XP for the holidays
The Keg End live event has been up and running for a few days now and I’ve been seeing an inordinate amount of those fancy Battlebrew Backpacks on both players’ backs… and the Skull Throne auction house (for 500g a piece — good luck selling those.)
Mythic’s Mark Jacobs also posted on the Herald about boosted XP for the holidays. Let’s hope they keep the leveling boost alive for longer than just the next couple of weeks — Tier 4 is a huge grind to get through, and I still have four levels to go ’til 40. Whew!
Note: If you’re interested in farming for one of said fancy backpacks, you’d best get to grinding. Dream Lane over at The Garrison of WAR has a great list of Tier 4 Order locations to kill Explosive Snotlings to your heart’s content, in case you’re at a loss finding them.
Sneak preview of new reroller blog design!
Since you’ve stuck with me this long, I figured I’d return the favour and give you a sneak peek at the new reroller blog design that I’m working on! It should be ready for prime-time at some point over the next few days, but consider this an early Christmas present from your friend(s) at reroller. :) Cheers!
