As many of you have, I’ve spent at least a few hours over the last few days grinding (read: killing repeatedly) rank 38 Explosive Snotlings for the ever-elusive Battle Brew Backpack, one of the rewards from Mythic’s current Keg End live event. I managed to do about two-thirds of level 36 until a few other fellow grinders decided to move in on the spawn I was camping (just south of Vaul’s Anvil, the High Elf Chapter 19 region in Dragonwake.) I got wise to their plans when they stopped moving and started pulling the same little buggers I was killing, so after a while of competing for who could pull the fastest (by the way, insta-shouts > Judgement, which has a cast time, for pulling mobs at range.)
I was under the impression that Syp’s 1,300 Snotling kill-count over at WAAAGH! was a little on the high side to get the random drop, but it appears that he managed to beat the odds by about 3:1. Ouch. According to WarDB, the backpack (actually a cloak-slot item in disguise) has a drop rate of 0.02%. Not good odds. That’s one in 5,000 of these little bastards. I’ll be at this for a while. A long while.
Unfortunately I’m going to be away from my computer visiting my family in the Okanagan for the next few days, so my odds aren’t looking good. Keg End ends on January 5th, and I’ll be back on the 2nd. Here’s hoping. In the meantime, let me kill another Snotling… and another… and another…

Hey Syp, took a look – sounds like a great enterprise. I’m down with helping out in any way I can. I’ll post a reply over there and drop you a line too.
